The Michelin Guide has finally put Vancouver on the culinary map and our members enjoyed a delightful evening at their recommended Acquafarina restaurant featuring an old friend, Culinary Director Jefferson Alvarez. We dine on the patio, starting with Chef’s foie gras canape and a glass of Ferrari Trentodoc Brut Metodo Classico sparkling wine followed by a Truffle Pizza and the 2021 Marchesi di Barolo Roero Arneis. This was followed by an Elk Tartare with more black truffle and a 2015 Guiseppe Cortese Langhe Nebbiolo. Our main course was roast duck breast with a fig and red wine jus and a glass of nicely aged 2010 Villa Al Cortile Brunello di Montalcino followed by a hazelnut chocolate cremeux and vanilla sponge paired with 2012 Ricasoli Vin Santo del Chianti Classico Castello di Brolio, a sweet finish to a very enjoyable evening.

Our thanks go to Cellarmaster Kim Mead for her selection of wines and presentation, to Executive Chef Jefferson Alvarez and Chef de Cuisine Paolo Catteneo for their delicious food, to Wine Director Evelyne Evelyne Quinti for her careful wine service, to Director of Operations Olivier Bureau for his very kind and gracious assistance in ensuring the success of this event, to the serving staff and to Milena Robertson for her photographs of the evening.
