A party is always fun and when it includes education and information about fine food, a "behind the scenes" tour, a butchering demonstration, flutes of sparkling wine and a tasty dinner, it can't get much better! We visited Two Rivers Specialty Meats in North Vancouver and following a reception with Blue Mountain Brut and charcuterie to nibble on, we watched a demonstration of beef butchering and toured the back rooms of the business, with Owner Jason Pleym as our guide. Two Rivers now has a small eatery in their shop and we sat down for a family style dinner of Dry Aged Tartare and a tasty Dry Aged Mini Burger paired with a 2015 Pinot Noir from Unsworth Vineyards on Vancouver Island. Next came a Butcher's Salad followed by a Carniboard Selection of Grilled Meats with Vegetables and Sauces and Chipotle Baked Beans paired with a robust 2014 Poplar Grove Syrah. To finish, we were served Tallow Fried Beignets with a Chocolate Raspberry Jam, a decadent ending to a fine evening!

Our thanks go to Jason Pleym and Shawna Gardham of Two Rivers, to member Joan Cross for her assistance in arranging the evening, to CellarMaster Kim Mead for her selection of wines and to Photographer Milena Robertson. Thank you to you all!

And to Two Rivers Meats—it was Nice to Meat You!
