Another first for the Vancouver Branch of the IW&FS – the first food and wine group to enjoy a delicious dinner at Hervé Martin's new restaurant, The French Table. Located on Main Street, The French Table offers exceptional bistro fare in a true French style. We were greeted with a glass of 2005 Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs, a beautifully mature sparkling wine from California, and delicious canapés including traditional gougères. Our first course featured Seared Scallops and Crispy Pork, with a Green Apple Emulsion and Potatoes Roesti accompanied by a 2006 William Fèvre Chablis Premier Cru "Fourchaume" and followed with a salad of Baby Greens and Arugula with a Dijon Mustard Vinaigrette.

Our main course was a Wild Mushroom and Herb Stuffed Leg of Lamb with a Rosemary Jus and Roasted Autumn Vegetables accompanied by a 2004 Pétales d'Osoyoos from the Okanagan's Osoyoos Larose winery, followed by a delicious A la Minute Tarte Tatin à la Mode with a 2001 Château Roumieu Sauternes. All in all, an excellent meal in a lovely new bistro with great service.
