Our Christmas celebration was a fine six-course dinner, Italian style, at Vancouver’s award-winning La Terrazza Ristorante. We enjoyed a reception with a savoury tart to accompany a Mionetto Prosecco, followed by a dinner of braised salt cod, quail stuffed with chestnuts and wild rice, tortelloni filled with rabbit confit, oven roasted rack of lamb and a fine selection of cheeses from les amis du FROMAGE and finishing with a delicious dolce di Napoli dessert. Wines were specially selected for the dinner and included a 1978 Chianti Classico Riserva from Badia a Coltibuono, a younger chianti, two nebbiolo wines, including a 1998 Terre da Vino Barolo, a dessert wine and an Amaro Montenegro digestif to finish. We also had a special treat with songs of the season presented by an octet from Vancouver’s world-renowned Elektra Women’s Choir.
