The sun was shining and the sky was blue as our members gathered at the historic BC Mills House for an educational foraging experience and lunch in Lynn Headwaters Park on Vancouver's north shore. We were greeted by Chef Robin Kort, a mycologist, who guided us in what to look for in identifying mushrooms. Our teams were led for a short walk by Jamie and Ficus who identified mushrooms and pointed us in the direction of several other edible plants growing in the wild. Following a highly educational time in the woods, we ended up back at the BC Mills house for a tasty lunch of wild edibles, including a delicious foraged mushroom pate, accompanied by a glass of birch leaf tea and of course a couple of wines, a 2011 Sandhill Small Lots Osprey Ridge Viognier and a 2008 CedarCreek Reserve Platinum Pinot Noir.

Our thanks go to Chef Robin and her guides and especially to member Kim Mead who graciously arranged and organised the event.
