The 2000 vintage in Bordeaux was given "the best" rating for red wines by
the IW&FS and was highly regarded for wines of great structure and
concentration. The Vancouver Branch of the IW&FS re-visited these Cru
Bourgeois and Petits Châteaux wines, following a similar tasting two and a
half years ago, to see how the wines are evolving. Our tasting was led by
Sid Cross and included wines of Ch. de Sours - Bordeaux, Ch. Carsin -
Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, Ch. Jouanin - Côtes de Castillon, Ch.
Puygueraud - Côtes de Francs, Ch. Fourcas Dupré - Listrac en Médoc, Ch.
Moulin à Vente - Moulis en Médoc, Ch. Faizeau - Montagne St. Emilion, and
Ch. Gloria - St. Julien. Generally the wines showed fine character and are
ready for drinking now and over the next few years. Following the tasting
several members stayed for a no-host Bordeaux dinner at Manuel Ferreira's Le
Gavroche restaurant, a fitting end to a delightful and informative evening.
Thank you, Sid!
